where do I start?
blend in unnoticed
matching the heart
and becoming ONE only..
invisible
yet seen
isn’t this like
the self
chameleon-ed
with our skin
wandering through
the fields of our eyes
looking for food
among the leaves
of grass?
life faces life
seer to seen
knower to known
predator to prey
one part invisible
the other partner
flying through the air
like the trapeeze man
in front of an audience
with open mouths.
come to be alive
on the silt mounds
of the mourning doves
who frieze when the hawk
hangs above.
while young boys
fling stones in the pond
to see what rushes about
and what might die
i lie, awake, in fear
that you can see me
and then
i will
be
gone.
